The fireworks are over and the nights are drawing in but there is still plenty to see and do, its a great time for a short break away before Christmas. Talking about Christmas I thought I would dedicate this blog post to Christmas shopping, not in the big stores but Christmas fairs and markets supporting local producers selling locally produced gifts where you can enjoy wondering around looking at stalls, listening to local choirs singing, sitting down with tea and home made cake or a glass of mulled wine and enjoying the atmosphere!

There are lots of local Christmas craft fairs and markets in Mid Wales, from large events such as Aberystwyth Arts centre and Llanerchaeron National Trust property to village halls, ideal for picking up that unusual Christmas present or having a go at making something yourself at a craft workshop.

We will also be at some of the fairs with our home made jelly and jam from our smallholding.

You can find more information on local fairs and craft workshops and events here and a few more listed below.

20th November - Pontrhydfendigaid Pavilion Christmas Market 10.30 to 4pm

Although a little overcast today we went for a 4 mile circular walk on Cors Caron National Nature Reserve which started from the small National Resources Wales car park near Station House. You will find a map on the board at the entrance of the Reserve, we decided to walk it anti clockwise to get the views over the mountains.

A pleasant walk via Swyddffynnon, not that often walked but fairly easy walking with a short road section. It does require walking boots and suitable clothing as can be a little wet and boggy in places. The walk gives you views over the reserve and the Cambrian Mountains. This is the 1st time we have walked it but will defiantly do it again! There are also walks from the main car park including an easy board walk onto the reserve.

A view ranger route of our walk can be found here..Cors Caron circular walk As with any walk we do we always take a map with us, and follow the countryside code.

We will be adding short blog posts here highlighting places to visit, whats going on locally and anything else that might be of interest!

Last week we visited NT Dinefwr  for lunch and walk around Newton House and browse in the gift shop and second hand book shop. It was lovely to see the deer in the park land behind the house, the sunshine and rainbow were a bonus! You can also visit the Castle and enchanting walks around the estate which we didn't visit this time. With the leaves just starting to change colour the parkland should be looking stunning in the next week or so.
